Here's a review. Rude employees. Incompetent PHARMACISTS. Incompetent cashier, OK, but incompetent PHARMACISTS!!! Six trips to fill a prescription. The pharmacist trying to sell me a different medication in place of what I needed. The pharmacist LYING to me and telling me my insurance won't cover it. I checked, full coverage. I will never go back. I live on top of Duane Reade and will never go back. I will go to CVS in FALUJAH first. Worst, most incompetent people I've ever seen. The review above me about the blind man did not surprise me at all.

I'm writing because I was so distrubed by something I witnessed last week at the 2nd avenue @ 39th street location that I won't shop at Duane Reade. While using the ATM, I observed a blind man (his white cane was a good indication of this) walk in as the cashier was making change for the only customer.

He politely asked the cashier (a young mustached man) if someone could help him get some stuff from the shelves. The cashier did not make any attempt to call anyone and immediately said, "Sorry, there's nobody available." I was waiting for the machine to dispense my cash and did not have a chance to offer to help as the man walked away (I couldn't find him 30 seconds later when my transaction was complete), but I did take a look around the store and found at least three stock persons who could have helped the man. The cashier flat out lied to the impaired man, and did not make the slightest attempt to help him.

This should be criminal and I'm sure it happens everyday. My disgust with this incident has made me shop elsewhere (thank goodness Walgreens just opened up near by). I hate to get someone in trouble, but this guy probably deserves to lose his job, the worst thing is that based on service that ranges from bad to worse at Duane Reade, whoever replaces him will also be bad.
