Precious Lives does GOOD. by Jeff J. at InsiderPages
I have adopted 3 dogs from this wonderful place. It may be short on aesthetics but it's overloaded in the love for animals department. If it wasn't for the hard work and dedication of the vet staff and VOLUNTEERS many, if not all, of the residents would have been put down in pounds. It would be PRUDENT to keep in perspective that this is not a typical suburban veterinary clinic. It's good care and affordable. This place does the BEST it can and allows animals to stay in loving homes because of it's pricing structure. Call ANY kill shelter or city pound and ask just how many animals are dropped off daily because the owners can't afford vet care.

I would never take my animals here. by Tina C. at InsiderPages
I called to talk about bringing my pets in. They are listed as a low cost, and just with two questions, the office visit quickly multiplied to like 400 other dollars. Then I asked her about the reviews and she hung up on me. Her name was Tammy. I wouldn't even take a dead animal to their clinic!

Want to adopt a boxer
There is a boxer at PreciousLives I want to adopt. They are very willing to take money and they speak of all these poor animals wiothout homes, but they will not respond to me. I have tried for 2 months, and they will not respond to 3 email requests and 2 direct phone calls. They say they are many months behind in correspondence and only one person is involved with adoption, and I should not expect response from this adoption person for another 3-4 months. So here I am living on 1.5 acres and have another boxer and make over $100,000 yr and can afford the dog, but they can't talk with me. Do they REALLY want to adopt out these animals????

supporting kim h 's post DON'T DO IT
I can verify this.. i was the assistant at Stow-Kent that helped with this unfortunate incident... when kim came in to us with her dog, he was re-tested for parvo, and it was indeed negative. There is the possibility of having parvo with a negative test, if it is run before the virus is actively shedding, but this dog not only had a neg test, but also seemed to be overall healthy & happy, without the typical signs that would indicate parvo, & proceeded to recover fully w/o the required treatment claimed by Preciuos Lives. Not only that, the pet was at risk for sepsis, do to the improperly prepared IV cath site - not well shaven or disinfected, & quite swollen. In addition, he was not malnourished as claimed. Unfortunately, this is not the only account of this kind that I have heard... some of them from a previous employee who felt the need to quit due to her disagreement with their practices and policies. I have no 1st hand experience with this clinic, & perhaps for standard vaccines & care, they may be a nice, low-cost alternative, but please just keep these things in consideration when choosing a place for more in-depth or critical care situations, and never hesitate to ask questions or verify info thru a secondary source
