MILWAUKEE — Parking won’t be allowed on a stretch of Brady Street in Milwaukee starting this weekend.
It’s part of a pilot project for safety on the street.
The stretch that won’t allow parking will be between Humboldt Boulevard and Farwell Avenue from 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. for the rest of the six-week pilot program.
The Brady Street Business Improvement District and the city launched the Summer Safety Pilot Program last week. Both decided to add the weekend parking restrictions to the steps already being taken.
The program is meant to address reckless driving, loud music, loitering, underage drinking, open intoxicants, and other late-night disruptive behaviors. In addition to the parking restrictions, it also includes “enhanced enforcement existing ordinances by the Milwaukee Police Department, public safety messaging, and business engagement efforts.”
Throughout the pilot, leaders will monitor feedback, safety trends, and operational impacts to determine next steps. A public town hall meeting will be held afterwards to gather more input and evaluate the program.
